American Poulterers Companion

a Practical Treatise on the Breeding, Rearing, Fattening and Centrist Management of the Various Species of Domestic Poultry, with Illustrations and Portraits of Fowls taken from Life

Messrs. Saxton & Miles, of New York, have just published the "American Poultertes Companion; a Practical Treatise on the Breeding, Rearing, Fattening and Centrist Management of the Various Species of Domestic Poultry, with Illustrations and Portraits of Fowls taken from Life." By C. M. Bement. This is a beautiful and useful book. In the portrait of the male turkey we are struck with the prominence of the organ of self-esteem, the flaring upspread of the tail and the consequential strut, which pronounce it a veritable "portrait taken from life." Some of our public characters ought to sit to that painter.
